Your Wine Personality Is: Budget Babe

You are thrifty and proud of it!

Maybe you don't have a ton of cash in the bank--- or you're saving up to pay off those school loans or even buy a place of your own, so disposable income is tight--- but you don't let that stop you from enjoying life to the fullest! You're a pro at finding fabulous free activities around town, believe that Trader Joe's picnics with friends are every bit as awesome as dining at pricey restaurants, and homemade cold brew is better than an expensive Starbucks habit. You are the queen of DIY- after all, why spend lots of cash on something if you can make it yourself? Your friends appreciate how resourceful you are.

You know that great wine bargains are out there- but you don't want to sacrifice quality for value.

We have 10 specially customized, sommelier-curated wine recommendations ALL UNDER $17 selected just for you budget babes (ps- click the links to shop!):

Sparkling Wine: Mionetto Prosecco Brut, $12.99

The Mionetto Prosecco Brut DOC has an intense fruity bouquet with a hint of golden apples. Very dry, fresh, light in body and well-balanced, this wine is perfect alone as an aperitif or as a delightful complement to appetizers such as prosciutto or mild cheeses. Excellent as a base for Bellinis and other sparkling wine cocktails!

Light-Bodied White Wine: Marques de Caceres Verdejo 2016, $9.99

This light and pretty white has an intense bouquet with mineral notes, herbs, and citrus. Deliciously balanced, it’s bursting with pineapple and lime fruit flavors in the mouth, then pink grapefruit and blood orange notes emerge to give a tinge of bitterness and a deliciously fresh aftertaste.

Full-Bodied White Wine: Pike Road Pinot Gris 2015, $15

Prepare to fall in love with Pinot Gris from Oregon with one twist of the Pike Road screwcap. Made from 100% hand-picked fruit from the Willamette Valley, the wine has a round and mouth filling texture and flavors of tropical fruit and yellow pear. It is delicious and an unbelievable value too!

Aromatic White Wine: 14 Hands Riesling 2014, $11.99

This crisp Riesling shows bright flavors of apple, pear and apricot with an ideal balance of minerality and acidity; it drinks medium sweet with stone-fruit and citrus flavors. This wine pairs nicely with spicy dishes.

Rosé Wine: Mas de Daumas Gassac Vin de Pays de l'Herault Moulin de Gassac Guilhem Rose 2017, $13.99

The wines at Daumas Gassac are enriched by the innumerable scents of Mediterranean shrubs packed tightly round the clearings. Low yields, but prodigious richness and ability to stimulate all the senses. Delicate red fruit notes and floral aromatics make this a classic choice.

Orange Wine: Attems Ramato Pinot Grigio 2016, $16.99

A special vinification practice led to the use of this term "ramato," or coppery: the must remains in contact with the skins for 24 hours and this practice gives the wine a very distinctive copper hue. Medium-bodied, vibrant and juicy on the palate, with a supple texture and a classically dry finish, drink it over the coming year.

Light-Bodied Red Wine: Apaltagua Reserva Pinot Noir 2016, $13.99

Apaltagua’s Pinot Noir has a brilliant ruby color and emphasizes aromas of cherries, raspberries, and soft notes of oak. It boasts smooth and elegant tannins and a sophisticated finish. The grapes come from Apaltagua’s own vineyard in Tricao in the Curico Valley in Chile.

Medium-Bodied Red Wine: Bodegas Renacer Punto Final Malbec Classico 2017, $11.99

Dark ruby red in color with violet tones, this Malbec has aromas of red currants, blackberries, and plums, with notes of pepper and clove. Flavors of black cherries, red and black currants, and juicy plums fill the mouth with hints of wood spice and vanilla on the finish.

Full-Bodied Red Wine: Domaines Barons de Rothschild Legende Bordeaux Rouge 2016, $14.99

Deep crimson color, the 2016 Legende Bordeaux Rouge-- a blend of Blend: 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot--- is intense, very expressive and is dominated by fresh fruit aromas (red currant, raspberry) blended with discreet notes of oak. Structured, round and easy, nicely oaked on the palate, with firm but silky tannins and a long, fresh and fruity finish.

Dessert Wine: Chateau Ste. Michelle Harvest Select Sweet Riesling 2015, $9.99

The Harvest Select Riesling is made in a slightly sweeter style than their Columbia Valley Riesling but still shows the classic Chateau Ste. Michelle Riesling character. It offers rich flavors of ripe peaches balanced with crisp Washington Riesling acidity.
